This course provides in-depth study in the chosen specialisation. The course adds significantly to a relevant undergraduate degree through coursework and major research in the approved area of interest within the program. By enhancing the student’s knowledge of their chosen field of study through advanced coursework units and extensive, independent research, the Master of Science (Thesis and Coursework) opens up a range of possible career opportunities, depending on the student’s area of specialisation. This is a Research Training Program course for domestic students.
UWA scientists are excited and passionate about their research. We invite Honours (or equivalent) graduates to consider undertaking the one-year Master of Science by Thesis and Coursework to work with, and learn from, our internationally recognised teaching and research staff in the Faculty of Science. We are engaged in a wide range of scientific research across biological, molecular, human, pyschological, agricultural, environmental and earth sciences. In this course, you’ll gain advanced understanding and skills in your chosen area of study, through undertaking a supervised research project and coursework units that include a literature review/proposal unit and an advanced coursework unit. You will present your thesis as a scientific paper to demonstrate high level research skills including project design and management, data gathering, analysis and synthesis, and development of summaries and conclusions as appropriate for the scientific discipline in which the research is undertaken.
