The University of Melbourne through its School of Land and Environment has a long association with wine and the wine industry. Its Wine Industry Centre (UMWIC) at Dookie coordinates the full range of wine growing, production, teaching and research pursued by the university. The region is famous for a long history of wine production and teaching, reaching back to the 1870s, and is the perfect place for present day education in the industry.
The course is delivered by an outstanding team of academic and industry practitioners. In particular the course is fortunate to have secured Ken Chase as part of the delivery team. Ken is currently wine consultant for American Airlines – the world’s largest airline – where his role is to select fine wines for various routes paying close attention to menu pairings, as well as the ethnic, cultural, seasonal and stylistic differences of each destination.
The course is delivered face to face in Australia (University of Melbourne Dookie campus for the 12.5 point subjects) and from both the University of Melbourne Parkville campus in Australia and a two week tour in France for the 25 point subject.
