  • The postgraduate program in general practice and community nursing was developed by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in collaboration with affiliated health services. It aims to provide a sound theoretical and clinical basis for nursing practice in a primary care setting with a focus on nursing in general practice settings. It will enable registered nurses to develop knowledge, skills and capabilities to practice collaboratively with general practitioners and other health professionals in promoting the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and the community. The courses provide an opportunity to develop your knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule items including immunisation, wound care and chronic disease management. Clinical placement is designed to complement current knowledge and/or introduce you to new knowledge by providing the flexibility to choose a placement venue best placed to achieve your individual educational needs and learning outcomes.
