  • This program provides students with an opportunity to undertake concurrent study in Civil Engineering and Business and complete two awards. In general, this program offers greater breadth of learning, enhancing the academic and professional qualities gained in each separate degree. At the same time, it recognises the increasing need for students to graduate with multidisciplinary skills. Students develop skills in the design and building of large scale projects such as roads, bridges, airports, major buildings and water supply systems whilst also gaining skills for work in many areas of business, and the opportunity to progress in a business management career.

The Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)/Bachelor of Business is a quality degree and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in engineering OR business.

The engineering course structure has recently been updated to include more modern and useful classes. These changes have equipped students with modern engineering programs, mathematical tools and hands-on skills. The business structure is very effective. It ensure students to the necessary work by having compulsory classes and frequent assessments.

The teaching staff in the engineering sector can vary. Some staff can be difficult to understand and/or don’t have the enthusiasm required. However, the majority of the staff are excellent and are always giving their time to assist any student in need. The business lecturers and tutors I have encountered are all excellent and enthusiastic. They have good experience and a vast knowledge base of which the share effectively with students.

The course assessments are excellent in business as they are frequent and not too easy. The engineering courses have varying quality of assessments, from very difficult and time consuming, to easy and similar to previous years’.

The facilities for both courses are excellent. The engineering facilities are particularly good, with millions of dollars worth of equipment readily available.

This course is particularly favoured in the workplace. The broad knowledge base of graduates gives them a step up on any opponents. The skills acquired range from writing skills to complex mathematics.
